What the agent does on your PC
This is what the agent does on your rig’s PC, and what it never does.
It only reads
The agent reads logs and status from your capture software, guider, mount software and Windows.
- It never writes to them.
- It never sends a command to a device.
It stays out of the way of imaging
- It never locks a file your capture software is writing.
- It uses very little CPU and disk.
It only makes outgoing connections
The agent sends data to Astral Warden over HTTPS. It doesn’t listen on any port, and you don’t need to open or forward one.
What it sends
Status, events, measurements, and figures for each frame such as star size and star count. It also sends a small thumbnail of each frame.
The full image files stay on your PC.
If something goes wrong
- If one part of the agent fails, the agent restarts that part and reports it. The rest keeps running.
- If the internet connection drops, the agent saves its data and sends it later.
- After a reboot, it starts again when you log in to Windows.
Remove it
Quit the agent from its tray menu. Then uninstall Astral Warden Agent in Windows settings.
