Help
What each source needs
The agent finds the software on your rig’s PC by itself. Most of it needs no setup. This page lists the few settings that have to be turned on, and what you miss without them.
The agent’s window on the rig’s PC lists every source it found and whether it is connected. If a source needs a setting changed, a banner at the top of the rig’s page says which one.
NINA
Install the Astral Warden Beacon plugin from NINA’s plugin manager, then restart NINA.
Without the Beacon the agent reads only NINA’s log. You still see errors and crashes, but no frames, no image quality, no device status and no autofocus results.
Target Scheduler
You don’t need Target Scheduler. The agent and the Beacon work the same without it. This section only applies if you use it.
Target progress needs no setup.
To see tonight’s planned schedule, turn on the API in NINA’s Target Scheduler settings.
Voyager
Turn on the Application Server in Voyager under Settings → Application Server.
Without it the agent reads only Voyager’s log. You still see errors, but no frames, no image quality and no device status.
If Voyager keeps its logs somewhere other than the default folder, enter the folder under Settings → Voyager → Log directory on the rig’s page.
RoboTarget progress needs no setup once the Application Server is on.
PHD2
No setup. The agent reads PHD2 through its server, which is on unless you turned it off under Tools → Enable Server.
Pegasus power boxes
The agent reads them through Pegasus Unity Platform, so Unity has to be running.
Mounts
Most mount status comes from NINA or Voyager. Three mounts report extra detail directly, with no setup:
- PlaneWave, while PWI4 is running.
- Astro-Physics, while APCC is running.
- 10Micron, using the mount address from its ASCOM driver settings.
Roof and weather
Connect your safety monitor and weather station in NINA or Voyager. The agent reports whatever they show. There is nothing to set up in Astral Warden.
Without a safety monitor connected, the Imaging under a closed roof alert can’t fire.
The PC itself
Disk space, memory and CPU need no setup.
Turning a source off
Each source has a switch under Settings on the rig’s page. Turn one off if the software is installed on the PC but you don’t use it with this rig.
